Thanks Alison, it feels like looking at photos has the potential to hurt or heal us…like all things that have this power it’s good to use them for the latter! As ever, I really appreciate your warm support 🙏
I hate the Google "remember this day" photos and have been contemplating a piece on photos, memory, grief and all that. Anyway, sorry that aside, this is beautiful, and it moved me tremendously. Thank you for introducing us to your lovely family.
You can identify a person that Google should no longer emphasize in the “remember this…” reminders. When my son died by suicide I wanted to stop being presented with essentially random pictures of him, so I could better curate how I would engage with his memories.
Oh Esther, this is a beautiful post. The memories are so precious. I made scrapbooks after Emile died and it brought me so much joy. His best friend's mom made a quilt with photos of him and pieces of his favorite clothes. Thank you for sharing your heart with us. 💞
Thank you Rea 🤗 I can imagine what comfort those things gave to you too. We find places where we can safely keep our children with us don’t we, like your scrap book and that quilt…Emile’s friend’s mum did such a beautiful thing x
This is such a beautiful and raw article. I love the photos, and I’m so glad you have so many photos you can look at that we’re happy memories. I look forwards to your future articles, as they always invoke such a positive vulnerability though your writing💗
I absolutely love seeing your family photos. I remember thinking I will never have a new pic of my girl, then a cousin found one of me & 1 1/2 year old Alyssa that I had never seen. Bittersweet to say the least.
Photos capture emotions, awesome when joy is shared back from those times. ✨📸💛💙✨ Thank you for sharing all with us
